TEMPORARY RENTAL OF TANK FOR SODIUM HYDROXIDE
Sodium hydroxide, also called caustic soda, is an inorganic compound with the formula NaOH. It occurs as a white, hygroscopic solid, or as a liquid.
This customer uses sodium hydroxide in the production process. This company consumes about two full trucks a week. During the Christmas period, the supplier could not supply the caustic soda. A solution was therefore sought to increase the existing storage capacity.
DOUBLE WALLED STORAGE TANK
It was decided to install a 35,000-litre double-walled storage tank. The storage tank is fitted with a fixed drip tray for extra safety. The tank was supplied complete with a digital level measurement, overfill protection (at 95%) and leak detection. For hazardous liquids, safety is not optional, it’s a priority.
TEMPERATURE
Sodium hydroxide is a liquid that crystallises at about 15°C. An extra challenge for this project.
Together with the customer, an efficient solution was sought. It was decided to place the tank in a tent construction fitted with hot air blowers.
ACCESSiORES
The tank was supplied with an HDPE ATEX diaphragm pump. This air-driven rental pump is easy to use and very versatile. Together with the flexible hoses, everything was installed in a very short time by the Liqson technicians.
